BRAZIL - Success story continued…

Brand-new 250-ton self-erecting rig for Maranhão, Brazil

Currently, a brand-new 250-ton self-erecting rig is getting ready in our headquarters in Schwanau, Germany for its job in the state of Maranhão in Brazil. Drilling contractor CONTERP will be drilling for gas for ENEVA, one of the largest local energy operators. ENEVA is transforming the natural gas into electricity through Reservoir-to-Wire (R2W).
The rig has been fully assembled and commissioned in our yard, while customer’s personnel visited us for a dedicated training program. During classroom training they got to know the technical details of the rig and how to operate and maintain it. Afterwards they have trained rig operations “live” on the rig on our inhouse test well. By end of September, the Factory Acceptance Test has been successfully completed. Now the rig is rigged down and prepared for overseas transport.
The rig is the fifths hydraulic rig of going to LATAM:  More than 15 years ago, Herrenknecht Vertical brought the first two 350-ton slingshot rigs into Brazil, where they drilled more than 65 wells for Petrobras in the next years. 2016 two self-erecting 200-ton rack and pinion rigs started operations in the Patagonian Desert for YPF Argentina.

The rack and pinion super singles rig is a field-proven rig concept, which has been drilling over 100 wells already in the Patagonia region of Argentina. The new rig incorporates all lessons learned from the Argentina operations as well as some customer specified modifications and upgrades:
Main features:
⟩    Hydraulic rack & pinion rig for super singles
⟩    Trailerized rig and equipment and reduced number of loads
⟩    Fast and craneless rig-up and fast rig moves
⟩    Compact footprint for reduced locations
⟩    Automated processes and HMI for reduced crew size
⟩    Hands-off concept to eliminate hazard exposure
