Herrenknecht Vertical Drilling Rigs reference projects Kirchstockach

Geothermal energy: Kirchstockach project

A Terra Invader 350 rig was used as part of a drilling project in Kirchstockach near Munich. When designing and constructing the rig, Herrenknecht Vertical engineers benefitted from the experience they had gathered with the two predecessor rigs. They used this experience to introduce further technical improvements to this deep drilling rig.

And it paid off: working in the direct vicinity of a residential area, the Terra Invader 350 sank the first well to a final depth of 4,214 meters in just 101 days. It surpassed this achievement in the second well, reaching a final depth of 4,452 meters in just 81 days. During drilling, local residents were undisturbed by loud volumes thanks to the Terra Invader 350’s broad noise protection features.
